Pizza. Who doesn’t love some cheesy, saucy, pizza? We’ve tried and tested the very best pizza and give you our top Cairo pizzerias. Do you agree with our choices? Let us know in the comments below.

1What The Crust

What The Crust have gone to great lengths to bring real Neapolitan technique and tradition to Cairo. They are Africa’s first and only AVPN affiliate pizzeria. This means that they make something truly authentic; from handmade Neapolitan ovens and top quality local and imported Italian ingredients, to their AVPN-certified pizzaiola and highly-coveted official AVPN affiliation – everything that goes into making a pizza is exactly as it would be in Napoli. The end result is a pizza probably unlike anything you’ve had in Egypt before. The staff members are super friendly. The service is fast and the delicious pizzas arrive hot and ready to devour. Prices are a little bit on the expensive side but we think it is 100% worth it.

2900 Degrees

900 Degrees uses high-quality, fresh, and delicious ingredients for its pizzas. The pizzas are great – they’re unique and full of flavor. You won’t find many similar pizzas in Cairo to the ones at 900 Degrees in terms of quality and flavor. The portions are good enough for the price. In fact, considering the freshness of the ingredients, authentic Italian taste, and overall quality of the pizza, we would say that 900 Degrees offers excellent value for money. The staff is very friendly and the service is quick, professional and courteous. A truly superb Italian-style pizzeria in Egypt, and arguably the best spot for pizza across Cairo.

3Porta D’oro

This is one of Cairo’s most popular Italian restaurants boasting some of the best pizzas in town. It’s a charming restaurant that offers you deliciously cheesy pizzas that will leave you totally satisfied. There are no wacky or bizarre pizzas here. Instead, Porta D’oro focuses on serving beautiful classic pizzas including the Margherita and Napolitano. Staff is friendly, and service is prompt. A good overall experience we’d recommend to all.

4Pepenero

Pepenero is one of the only restaurants in Cairo that serves pizza with real buffalo mozzarella cheese. The pizza is very authentic, and surprisingly close to the real deal in Italy. Our favorite pizza was the “Don Livio” topped with cherry tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, peppers, and spicy salami. The atmosphere, interior decor, and music is just spot on. It’s a chic restaurant located in Korba – one of our favorite districts of Cairo. A more recently opened branch can be found in New Cairo serving deliciousness to everyone in the east of the capital.

5Maison Thomas

Maison Thomas really needs no introduction. It’s been around since the 20s and still manages to be one of the most popular pizzerias in Cairo with branches popping up everywhere. You can’t beat the “Mexico” pizza topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, chicken, sweet corn, onions, green peppers and hot sauce. And if that doesn’t get your mouth watering, try their Margherita, Marina, or Hot Dog pizza.

6Il Mulino

Our overall experience at Il Mulino was very positive. Our favorite pizza? The Rucola Grison is topped with mozzarella, grison meat, fresh rocket, tomatoes, Parmigiano, and olive oil (not pictured). The Napoletana was another major hit we think you should try. The crusts on all our pizzas were amazing. The baking was timed to perfection in the oven. To top it off, Il Mulino is pet-friendly!

7Il Divino Pizzeria

Il Divino is a gift to all pizza lovers in Zamalek. The restaurant is small but makes up for it with impeccable flavor. They’ll deliver steaming hot pizzas right to your doorstep too. There seems to be a focus on authenticity at Il Divino given the thickness of the dough, use of fresh produce, and distinctly Italian flavors. Our favorite pizza is the Siciliana topped with mozzarella, tomato sauce, oregano, goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, and fresh olives. Dig in!

8Sapori

The ingredients used by Sapori are top quality and very fresh. The result is a lovely-tasting pizza. A good selection of different toppings should satisfy most customers. The restaurant in Zamalek is a small and cozy place. It is not the brightest spot in Cairo – a bit too dimly lit for our liking. But back to the pizza; the dough is just the right crispness, the tomato sauce is freshly squeezed, and the toppings were perfectly balanced and seasoned. The cheese was high quality too. Their standout dessert, in our opinion, is the lemon tart. It was refreshing, full of flavor, and not overly sweet. The added cream was zesty and fantastic. Service is just about acceptable.

9Vinny’s Pizzeria

If you’ve heard of Vinny’s, then you’ve probably heard about their pizza cakes (pictured)—layered pizzas in the form of a cake glued together with lots of cheese. If that doesn’t build your appetite, you’ll be glad to know that Vinny’s serves normal pizzas. Our pick of the bunch is the Chicken BBQ pizza topped with mozzarella, tomato sauce, chicken and homemade BBQ sauce. Just make sure you leave room for dessert because their Apple Pie is an absolute winner.

  1. Guess you didn’t try ANDIAMO pizza in Heliopolis ????!!!!!
66 Omart Ibn EL Khattab street.
    The real thing.

  2. Best pizza I have ever eaten in my life is Basmala. A very traditional restaurant in Nasr City. It makes pizza better than Italians.

    • I went to olivo on the day it opened and probably 10 times after that over time. The last time i visited was last month. their standards have been dropping so fast, and the pizza gets worse and worse with every visit. i would never consider them in the top 10. even papa john’s is better.

  3. I’m sorry guys, but this list is really a shame.

Have you done your research? Egypt (and by Egypt here we all mean cairo) has few pizza places, which doesnt it make it hard to place a 10 of them, but instead you placed a global junk pizza chain in it? (Papa Johns) Really? is this the best you could do?

If you’ve worked hard a little, may be you would came across “Olivo” the new pizza bar in Zamalek, which should be included in this list if not on top in my humble opinion.

    • see somaya’s comment above. they r not as good as they once were. i can confirm this. i also went at the beginning and it was really good, now it’s very bad. papa john’s is not bad. you know we all love it deep down 😛

    • @Tarik, you’re dad is a partner in olivo that’s why you’re butthurt! papi’s pizza joint didn’t make it to the top 10 so your solution is to be a rude bitch. papi must be so proud his son is a sarcastic vagina. Papa John’s crushes olivo’s joke pizza any day. olivo only makes money because of their license to sell alcohol. get the crowd drunk enough to eat shit. and by shit here we all mean olivo’s pizza.
